5 reasons you should start your blog

Blogging is one of the utmost powerful tools that a business can use to engage with customers and ultimately convert them into leads. If you don’t have a blog yet, it’s about high time you start one now! Below you can find 5 reasons why your business should have a blog and what its advantages are:

1. Tell you story

By blogging you can tell your story the way you want it to, not as a journalist would do it. You can include information that you think is relevant and you can exclude those you think are unnecessary. Now it’s your turn to let the world know your story. Share everything about your activities, ideas and success through your blog, spread your knowledge through blogging and engage people by showing the person behind the business.

2. Build relationships

The people that you attract by blogging don’t have to be just your “audience”. In time they can become your friends, customers or even partners. Use your blog to keep in touch with them, help them solve specific problems and just be all-around helpful and people will return the favor when you least expect it but most need it.

3. Establish authority

You know that you are good at what you do. Create content in topics that are helpful for your  audience and you will become the go-to person to read when they have a question or a curiosity. Become a figure of leading importance in your field, someone they can look up to, and your knowledge will give you authority in that specific domain. You can increase your professional relevance. You will become their role model in specific areas, they will listen to your advice and feedback. Use this in an advantageous way and convert them into leads.

4. Drive traffic to your store

A great blog enables you to reach billions of people because it provides value. When your blog is ready, Google will index your content so your pages will be listed on search results. This way,  search engines will bring new people to your blog. Your blog can be discovered via social media so every time you write a blog post don’t forget to share it. This will help expose your business to a new audience and this increased exposure will ultimately have people talk about you and become aware of your brand, products and business.

5. Convert traffic into leads

Now that you have traffic on your blog it’s time to convert them into leads. The easiest way to do this is to use the so called call-to-action buttons or links. As its name suggests, the call-to-action means you call them to perform some kind of action. So your blog is not just something they read and move on with their daily lives (empty traffic) but a piece of content that motivates them to take action and buy from you. Usually with this call-to-action you should give something for free for your blog’s visitor. People do love free stuff, especially so if it benefits them and they find it helpful.

For example you could offer free e-books, free webinars, free trials – basically any kind of content for which your visitor is willing to subscribe. You should be aware that not all of your visitors will subscribe and convert to leads though, and that this is fine.
