Meet the Rosie Toes Shoes!

We had the chance to have a virtual sitdown with the person behind these gorgeous products so let’s get to know Inge, the artist behind the delightful Rosie Toes Shoes and let’s discover her journey in the world of shoes.

What is the story behind your store?

Rosie toes unexpectedly happened on a cold Thursday eve in January 2015.A friend and I were being creative while drinking coffee and eating cookies at my house. Think the Coffee and sugar lead to some extraordinary ideas!

Why did you decide to start your own business? What did you do before you started the shop? Are you doing it full time? If not, what else do you do?

So I showed some friends and family the 1st pair of shoes and their reactions were better than I thought. They loved it.
Friends were asking for a pair.
I decided to do a Facebook page and see what the reactions will be.
Things grew from there!
I’m a dentist during working hours and after hours I’m a ‘shoe designer and maker’

My hobby and work is quite similar.
Working with my hands and creating just in a different way..

How did you come up with this name?

I thought I need a catchy and cute name that will suit the design, it literally popped into my head when a friend asked me what my designs were called.

Where do you find the necessary tools and material that you use for creating your products?

I shop around and find all my materials locally.

What inspires you to create your amazing products?

Being creative is a big passion of mine.I love designing and playing around with all the ideas I have trapped in my head.

Do you have a favourite product at the moment?

I love to do custom wedding shoes.
It’s such a big honour to make a dream shoe for a bride to be.

What were the challenges you had to face in your business’ early phase? What has kept you motivated?

Selling shoes online is quite hard, people want to fit it on before they buy a pair.
What kept me motivated- people were still buying it.

How long did it take before you started having customers? What did you do to acquire and to keep customers?

The 1st month I probably sold 2 pairs which was amazing, because I’ve never done something like this before and couldn’t believe the interest. I think customer service is the most important. I’m happy if I know the customer is happy!

If you could go back and change something about your business, what would it be? What were some of the mistakes you have made along the way?Do you ever regret doing your own thing and starting your business?

There’s nothing I regret, because you have to learn from all your mistakes. I love that this is just a hobby for me so I can put everything into it. I still have my day job, the day I feel tired of designing and making shoes (and when it starts to feel like a 2nd job)I can simply just stop.

What are your plans for the future? Do you plan on introducing new products?

I would like to do more wedding shoes, that’s really my favourite part of Rosie toes.

What do you think of the service that Shoptsie offers and what is your general impression of Shoptsie? Would you recommend Shoptsie to others?

I love how easy it is to use Shoptsie seeing that I’m not the best with technology and admin. Would definitely recommend it to any newbie.

Any advice for entrepreneurs that are starting out just now?

Be original and do something you love.
